Not as good as I was expecting, but it was an easy read and quite enjoyable. I felt it was a bit disjointed - it jumped around a lot and seemed to leave out whole chunks of storyline just to get to the next event. At one point, I almost felt like I was reading a collection of short stories about the same characters, rather than one novel. Also, without giving too much of the story away, there are graphic references to injuries sustained by one of the characters in prison and to a family as a result of domestic violence. These were unexpected and I found them very uncomfortable to read. Having said all that, I liked the main premise of the novel, that good will win out over bad and I liked that the community rallied around Novalee and became her real family after she was abandoned by both her boyfriend and her mother.
