The Crimson Rooms - Katharine McMahon 4.5 stars. This was a compelling read, part murder mystery, part social commentary on the effects of WWI on the soldiers and their families and the difficulties women were facing in order to enter some of the male-dominated professions like the law. It was a touch long-drawn-out in a couple of places and the Meredith/Edmund part of the story seemed to fizzle out into nothing, contrary to what the blurb on the back cover had led me to expect. However, it was an engrossing story, with an unexpected twist at the end and gave me plenty of food for thought.
